No Paws on the Ground Policy

Why This Policy Exists

Young puppies and kittens are especially vulnerable to disease before their vaccinations are complete. To protect them — and every pet traveling with Pawformance — we enforce a strict No Paws on the Ground Policy during transport.

What This Means for Puppies

  • Puppies under 14–16 weeks who have not received all three rounds of core vaccines will not be allowed to touch the ground in public areas.

  • During stops, these puppies remain in their travel crate or are held/carried by our transport team.

  • Potty breaks are managed inside the crate on clean, drop-thru mats over absorbent pads.

This ensures your puppy stays safe from exposure to parvovirus, distemper, and other contagious illnesses..

What This Means for Cats

Cats are never allowed outside their travel crate during transport stops.

Rest and comfort are managed within the crate, with fresh litter provided in appropriate carriers.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Why can’t my puppy go on the ground, even just for a quick potty break?

A: Until a puppy has completed their full vaccine series, they are at high risk of contracting serious, often fatal diseases. Even a few seconds of exposure on contaminated ground can be dangerous.

Q: How do you manage potty breaks for young puppies?

A: Puppies relieve themselves inside their travel crate on clean pads, which we change as needed during the trip.

Q: Do cats ever come out of their crates during travel?

A: No. Cats remain safely crated at all times to prevent escape and exposure to unfamiliar environments.

Our Commitment to Safety

This policy is non-negotiable. It’s one of the ways Pawformance ensures every pet — young or old — travels safely and arrives healthy.
